Rick Camp Trampled at an Actual Camp

ASSOCIATED PRESS - Greensboro, NC Aug. 12, 2004 - Over the weekend, former Atlanta Braves pitcher Rick Camp, was trampled by a horse while hanging out at the Green River Campground. He sustained severe head trauma, spleen punctures and a dislocated ear during the two-minute trampling. According to a police report, one of his companions, former Braves starting pitcher Zane Smith, yelled loudly and scared a horse that a woman was riding nearby. The horse began repeatedly trampling Mr. Camp until Mr. Smith was able to punch the animal, startling it and saving his friend's life. Rick Camp and Zane Smith were at an actual camp site when the incident occurred. Rick Camp is being treated at a nearby hospital and is expected to fully recover.
